Zoysia and centipede grass grow well in warm weather conditions and can adjust to soil types that are not so fertile also. They also have a higher resistance to insects and pests and hardly call for any type of maintenance. 

One of the fastest growing types of grasses is St. Augustine, which survives well in mild climates. Many of the grasses are tolerant to drought as well as extreme cold. A good example of such types is the carpet grass. Depending upon the climate of the region and the type of rainfall received, you can plant the variants accordingly. It is always a good idea to grow those varieties that do not need too much of maintenance in the open space around the home.
